What your mouth reveals.
Explore what your oral microbiome reveals. Select one to preview.
Gum health
See the balance of bacteria in your mouth and what may be driving gum inflammation, cavities and breath, with clear, targeted steps for a healthier smile.
Cavity risk
See the acid-producing bacteria linked to tooth decay, and the protective species that help keep your enamel and saliva pH in balance.
Fresh breath
See the bacteria linked to halitosis, such as those that produce sulphur compounds, with targeted steps to rebalance them.
Oral-gut link
See which of your oral bacteria are known to reach the gut, and what an imbalance in the mouth may mean further down.
Microbiome diversity
See how many species live in your mouth and how evenly they are spread. A diverse oral microbiome protects against inflammation and disease.
Heart & inflammation
See the oral bacteria associated with inflammation and cardiovascular risk, among them Fusobacterium nucleatum and Porphyromonas gingivalis.
Whole-body links
See the bacterial groups associated with conditions beyond the mouth, including diabetes, hypertension and inflammatory disorders.
Nitric oxide
See the bacteria, such as Neisseria and Rothia, that help turn dietary nitrate into nitric oxide, a pathway linked to healthy blood pressure.
Pathogens & balance
See the beneficial bacteria that defend your oral health, and the potential pathogens that may add to disease risk.

Frequently asked questions.
What does the test analyse?
The bacteria living in your mouth: mapped for gum health, cavities, breath and links to whole-body wellbeing.
How is it different from a dental check-up?
A check-up looks at your teeth and gums as they are today. This test reads the bacteria behind them, the species linked to gum inflammation, cavities and breath, so an imbalance can show before it is visible in the chair. It works alongside your dentist’s care rather than replacing it.
Can it flag gum disease or cavity risk early?
It shows the levels of bacteria associated with gum disease, such as Porphyromonas gingivalis, and with tooth decay, which can point to a risk before symptoms appear. It is not a diagnosis; if your results suggest a raised risk, take them to your dentist.
How do I collect my saliva sample?
A simple saliva sample, collected at home with the instructions in the kit. It is painless and takes a few minutes. Collect between Monday and Thursday and post it back the same day in the prepaid envelope, ideally before midday, avoiding public holidays.
What's driving my bad breath?
Bad breath is often linked to bacteria that produce volatile sulphur compounds, among them Prevotella intermedia and Fusobacterium nucleatum. The report shows which of these are present in your mouth and gives targeted steps on hygiene, diet and lifestyle to rebalance them.
How does the oral-gut link affect my health?
You swallow oral bacteria all day, and some of them can settle further down the gut. An imbalanced oral microbiome is associated with changes in the gut microbiome and with inflammation elsewhere in the body, which is why the report looks beyond the mouth.
How long until my results are ready?
Typically 2 to 4 weeks from the day your sample reaches the laboratory. You are notified when it arrives, and again when the report is released in the Phenome app; the specialist session can be booked as soon as the report is live.
Is my microbiome data kept private?
Your data is stored encrypted and processed under GDPR. It is never sold, never shared with insurers or employers, and is used for research only if you opt in separately. You can export or permanently delete it from your account at any time.
