What you could pass on.
Explore what carrier screening reveals. Select one to preview.
Recessive conditions
See which inherited conditions you carry and what it means for your children, with clear guidance and genetic counselling for anything clinically relevant.
X-linked conditions
See whether you carry variants on the X chromosome, such as those behind fragile X syndrome and haemophilia, which a carrier mother can pass to her sons.
SMA disorders
See your carrier status for spinal muscular atrophy and for inherited enzyme conditions, where a missing or faulty enzyme changes how the body processes what it needs.
Blood disorders
See whether you carry variants behind inherited blood disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, which are more common in some backgrounds.
Hearing & vision
See your carrier status for inherited conditions that affect hearing and sight, among them forms of congenital hearing loss and retinal disease.
Neuromuscular
See whether you carry variants linked to muscular dystrophies and other inherited conditions of the nerves and muscles.
Partner matching
Compare your results with your partner’s to see whether you both carry a variant in the same gene, the case that matters for your children.
Family planning
Understand the options open to you before pregnancy if you share a carrier risk, with a genetic counsellor to talk them through.
Reproductive risk
See the chance of passing each condition on, 1 in 4 when both parents carry the same recessive variant, with the residual risk explained.

Frequently asked questions.
What does the test analyse?
The genes behind 300+ recessive and X-linked conditions you could pass on to your children.
How is it different from an ancestry DNA test?
An ancestry test compares markers across populations to estimate where your family came from. Carrier screening reads the genes behind more than 300 recessive and X-linked conditions and reports the variants you could pass to your children, classified to clinical standards (ACGS, ClinGen), with a genetic counsellor to explain them.
Should my partner get tested too?
Ideally, yes. Most of the conditions screened are recessive, so a child is only affected when both parents carry a variant in the same gene. Your own result shows what you carry; your risk as a couple is only clear once you have both been screened.
What happens if we're both carriers?
If you both carry a variant in the same gene, each pregnancy has a 1 in 4 chance of a child inheriting the condition. A genetic counsellor goes through what that means and the options open to you before and during pregnancy. We are not a diagnostic service, and the counsellor can refer you on for clinical care.
Do I need this with no family history?
Most people who carry a genetic condition have no family history of it. Carriers are usually healthy, so a variant can pass unnoticed through generations. Screening shows hidden risks that family history alone cannot.
How do I collect my saliva sample?
A simple saliva sample, collected at home with the swab in the kit. Collect between Monday and Thursday and return it the same day in the prepaid envelope, ideally before midday, avoiding public holidays.
How long until my results are ready?
Typically 2 to 4 weeks from the day your sample reaches the laboratory. The report is uploaded to your secure profile in the app, with an email link, and can be downloaded as a PDF at any time.
Is my genetic data kept private?
Your DNA data is stored encrypted and processed under GDPR as special category data. It is never sold, never shared with insurers or employers, and is used for research only if you opt in separately. You can export or permanently delete it from your account at any time.
